Using an OPK as an HPT?

I accidentally bought some ovulation tests thinking try were pregnancy tests. I was reading online that they can be used but pick up on LH and HCG. I took one last night and this morning after reading that because me and BD were too impatient to wait. They were both positive, but were trying not to be excited yet. I am pretty sure I'm not ovulating since my period is due on Monday.

Has anyone else taken a OPK on accident? And what do you think my chances are of being pregnant?

If they are equal in color id say there is a good chance but i would get an actual pregnancy test.

i did the same thing last week! It was positive, but I'm not pregnant.. def get a pregnancy test to be sure!

You have some level of LH in your system at all times. They are not a good indicator of pregnancy whatsoever. The only one that has ever been positive for me when pregnant is the happy face kind. The First Response brand go stark white on me. Pregnancy is the only time I've seen absolutely nothing at all on an OPK.

The theory worked for me. I got a positive OPK obviously around when I ovulated. Then I kept testing afterward and they went to negative and then back up to positive the closer to my missed period I got.

I think if you are pregnant they get up and stay up. And they actually are a positive OPK and not just a second line. That's what happened to me. I take OPK's all the time still because I love seeing that positive test, without going out and buying some HPT's lol And my LH went up AFTER a positive pregnancy test. I'd say it's promising if you have a couple days worth of actual positive OPK's  

I used one for fun. the test line was WAY darker than the control. I think I was 8 weeks when I tried it. lol just for fun. There is a pic somewhere in my posted topics. let me see if I can find it

Not sure if this helps, but I pee'd on an OPK when I was 20 weeks pregnant (2 weeks ago) lol idk why but it was positive and way darker than the control line. Good luck.


EDIT: oh and I remember using one when I was 7 dpo with this pregnancy (I also was getting positive pregnancy tests at 7 DPO with this pregnancy and I took an OPK too just to see what it would do and make sure) and both the HPT and OPK were positive at 7 dpo with afternoon pee.

How am I the weird freak that gets a stark white nothing for the test line when pregnant? It's happened every time and I only use First Response for the line test kind.

Hmmm IDK! I always used the cheapie ones from eBay.

Before I knew I was pregnant with my son I had positive OPK's for 5 days straight. Took a pregnancy test after that just for the heck of it and it was positive. Good luck!
