My niece's knit cape is complete

For all those in my parent tank seeing the posts about my SIL's passive aggressive tactic to get a cape for her daughter for Christmas.

Here's the big reveal. I finished it yesterday. My MIL and I collaborated on it, so that way if she says she doesn't like it, I can throw it that my MIL loves it in her face(then she will wear it)

Both my MIL and my husband said that this is "roshell approved" I am hiding it from my SIL until Christmas(I usually ask for approval first if it's her style).

My daughter wears a 3t, my niece is very tiny and petite and I think still wears 24 months.

And in this picture, my niece is the one in the red dress. so I'm sure it will fit her perfectly.



All my SIL said was to make it red and very detailed with lots of cables.

No pattern(except for the cables obviously.) I designed it and made it to size myself!

I tell my family members to get their "ideas and orders" for Christmas in by Nov 1 because after that I get SLAMMED with orders.

My SIL kept changing her order and never told me completely what she wanted. She's an artist and very specific on design aesthetic. If she doesn't get what she wants, she won't let her kids wear it or play with it.

She never told me what she wanted or color. So then she told me I could have "free reign" which causes problems. I could go through all the work to make this and have her hate it and my niece never wear it.

So yeah...but everyone agrees that it is her design aesthetic and that she'll love it. And with so many people on my side for the design, she will use it.

Can I save an image to e-mail my Gram and see if she can duplicate it for a little girl I know?

Yeah no problem.

I "copy" and "remake" peoples items all the time.

You can add some hints.

The bottom "addition" is an add on, and sewed on so the cable would go in the opposite direction. I increased on the "wrong" side with the knit instead of the purl. (easier in my opinion). And I twisted the knit stitch by the arm cables. And I added 2 rows of single crochet around the border and started the i cord directly on the cape so it wouldn't come off!

Oh and if she wants any more tips on how I did it since I don't use patterns she can always email me too.

You're amazing! Thank you (: she knitted some hats and sweaters for a girl on here who had a premie. And knits stuff for my boys all the time. She's a knitting machine lol. Always has projects going for little kids.

Where in WA are you? I don't usually knit, but I'm getting known for my knit brain hats, and I mostly crochet. I can crochet amazingly.
