Meh,probably not. But,he might could convince them that it was wrong and he wants a re-do.

Most places here will after 90 days if you fail pre-employment, 6 months if you fail a random or ordered one while you work there.

I'm thinking that's what's going to happen... He'll have to convince them.

usually no.. they usually do a drug test for a reason and arent going to wait til whatever you tested positive for gets out of your system unless they prove it was some sort of prescription that made them fail

It depends. I worked for one company that had a zero tolerance policy, but I also worked for a company that would retest if the first test was positive for THC. If you were positive for anything else, they wouldn't retest.

most places aren't looking for THC, but harder stuff. i know GEICO does hair follicle, and it doesn't matter if you shave your head to avoid it, they'll get hair from else where on your body.

I would assume no for most places. They drug test you to make sure you aren't doing drugs.
I doubt they will give a second chance. But if they do it would be because it could have "been wrong". And they would probably only give you 24 hours to take it again.

That's what it was positive for, and he happened to be very qualified for the position. My husband just thinks his father is saying nonsense, an doesn't want to contact the employer again.

It never hurts to ask. The reason some companies are more lenient about THC is because unlike harder drugs (cocaine, meth) an employee could use it recreationally on their own time and, while it may be illegal, it wouldn't really affect them on the job as long as they didn't smoke it right before work. Also if someone was a frequent smoker, it could be in their system for a while and it could have been weeks since the last time they smoked. Harder drugs that test positive were used recently, usually within the last 3 days, and have a higher incident of severe addiction that would increase the likeliness of an employee coming to work under the influence.

If I was him, I'd call and ask. Like I said, it doesn't hurt to ask. The worst they can do is say no.

He was an every day smoker up until a month or so ago, thank you so much. I'm going to tell him all of this.
