re: a weird family arrangement?

that sounds weird but im sure for the kids it works great. neither has like their own dad they share, just like they share their mom and it keeps the peace, if only everyone could be like that

My mum and my step-dads ex wife are best friends. They live relatively close in a small town so they see each other pretty much everyday. T spends all our birthdays, Christmases and Easters with us, and we always go to her birthdays. She even comes on holiday with us lol. My dad lives too far away to have the same type of relationship, but he knows he is always welcome at my mums house, and the few times they have met my dad and step-dad get along really well. We all think its great, but I have to admit it takes other people a little while to get their heads around. We do have a strange family tree with lots of step-families and adoptions etc so I guess that makes it easier for us to just accept people as family regardless of bloodline. We call T by her name because we are older, but I would like for my children, when I have them, to call her Aunty or some variation of that.

ETA - I think my poor step-dad get the raw end of the stick, he now has two 'wives' he has to keep happy lol!

i wanted our situation to be this way. my ex husband however thinks its weird and would confuse the kids. i thought it would be better for them but he can't get over himself

My grandma and grandpa divorced years before I was even born. She remarried when I was an infant. Both of my grandfathers got along, and we spent every Thanksgiving/Christmas together. My mom and her first husband divorced six years before I was born. He was (and still is) a big part of my life. He's the father of my oldest brother and sister, and I see him several times a year. Growing up, he used to babysit us often, buy us Christmas presents,and sometimes spent the holidays with us (though he typically spends them with his mom and siblings--but it isn't weird for him to be around). I've never called him dad, but I'd consider him an uncle of sorts.

I think it's awesome, and those kids are lucky. I can understand if the younger one calls her mom's ex by 'dad' as her older sibling probably does it all of the time, so she probably just picked it up from there.

My own parents are divorced (they've been apart for about six or seven years), and they hate being around eachother. The only time they get together is for my son's birthday, and that's about it (if they can help it). It's kind of annoying (my mom asked if we could do two birthday parties for my son this year just so she wouldn't have to see my dad, though she was joking), but it's whatever.

My dad bought two trailers in a trailer park, along with a bunch of others and became my mothers landlord. My mother lived there with her boyfriend, and my sister and my sisters boyfriend.
My mom actually got back together with my dad & moved back in with us and my moms boyfriend still lives with my sister. I still consider him family.
At one point before my dad became her landlord there, right after she lost her own trailer; between the move they stayed with us (my dad, my brother and two sisters) for a bit while their then new trailer was being remodeled. It was awkward at first but interesting having my dad and my mom and my moms boyfriend under one roof.

My friend can't have children and her husband cheated on her and got another woman pregnant. Now they all live together (peacefully and lovingly, might I add) with their 4 year old DD. She calls both women mommy. THAT is super weird to me.

Not really no, the lead singer of Linkin Park Chester Bennington has this arrangement with all his ex's. The mother of his oldest 2 sons Elka, his ex Wife and Mother of his 3rd son Sam and his current Wife and Mother of his 4th son and 2 daughters Talinda. They are all constantly interacting on their verified twitters, they all go out together regularly and post pics together, I'm sure they all spent new year together last year and ALL the kids call ALL the ladies Mom. Like the 4th son calls the Mother of the oldest 2 sons Mom, they go on vacations together, they're like all best friends and one big family. I think it's really nice.... In fact there is a funny pic of them all online where they are poking funat themselves I'll see of I can find it......

At my sons gastro picnic they did a fam pix of our whole fam that was there for Dean, I was right in middle, Dean I standing above me, his dad is on 1 side of me and my husbands on the other o.O

awww thats odd but sweet lol

myhusbands fam is twisted like *whoa* his dad and step mom were married in niceragua, his dad came to u.s. because some crazy smurf was happening *complicated nothing to do with story* lol Dad and step mom lost contact... dad got his mom preg. His step mom got preg by some dr. They got contact again, She came over to the US, the babies were maybe 3_4ish *they are 1 year apart...

Husbands, mom, dad, step mom, new step sister, and his bio moms sister who was married to his dads brother, all lived in an apartment...

they all love and talk about eachother like thier best friends

LOL... i hadnt lost baby weight yet, but im in middle green tank, David is on my left, DEan our son is standing kinda in betwween us, with bright green shirt, my husbands on my left holding our youngest...
