Quoting Maria + Cory = Alexis:" This is my first baby and I was wondering is it really a good idea to present your doctor with a birth ... [snip!] ... find it offensive that you put your input into the birthing process. I really trust my doctor and I don't want to offend her."
Quoting JiLLiAN.:" I have one, and have made it clear to my doctor(s) that I want it to be as natural as possible, no meds, ... [snip!] ... natural as possible, no meds, no heart monitor on my stomach, etc. It's not offensive. I wish I had one my first time around."
Quoting Masturkate TTC:" They absolutely could be offended... which is further proof that obstetrics is an insane field of medicine. ... [snip!] ... field of medicine. You have a right to birth the way you want but unfortunately this right is very often withheld from women."no... you have a right to receive the safest care possible while in the hospital. If you want to "birth the way you want".. you have a right to do it at home without making the doctors and nurses liable.
Quoting GL♣05/08/2013:" I was told no by my OB.. But I wish I would have made one. That way I would not have given in so easily ... [snip!] ... not have given in so easily to their wishes, ie Pitocin immediately.. I just went with the flow and absolutely hated my birth"
Quoting Mom of Tristan/Rayah +1:" I knew what I wanted and that was natural. I didn't get forced a epidural cause I wanted a natural birth. ... [snip!] ... I still didnt get a epi. Its good to know what you do and don't want but don't get upset if it doesn't go according to plan."
Quoting GL♣05/08/2013:" <blockquote><b>Quoting snglemama:</b>" no monitor? why not deliver at home then? ... [snip!] ... Lol that made absolutely no sense, they can still care for an "emergency" in a hospital versus at home.."
Quoting snglemama:" no... you have a right to receive the safest care possible while in the hospital. If you want to "birth ... [snip!] ... If you want to "birth the way you want".. you have a right to do it at home without making the doctors and nurses liable."
Quoting snglemama:" how would they KNOW if it's an emergency if there's no monitor on baby? I absolutely would refuse to ... [snip!] ... no clue how long it's been that way... because of a selfish mom who doesnt' want a little belt around her stomach? insane"
Quoting Masturkate TTC:" Ah yes because birth is such an inherent liability. Don't use unnecessary interventions that raise rates ... [snip!] ... very much to be liable for. That being said, I would rather give birth in a crack house than a hospital ;) Home birth FTW."
Quoting snglemama:" great... I'd rather you give birth at home then. I dont' have issue with people who do home births. ... [snip!] ... jobs.... when they have limited googled information... and they aren't the ones who will be liable when something bad happens."My birth plan give my doctor the go ahead to do what she believes is best. I would never tell her what to do. I just requested certain things as long as there was no medical reason to prevent them. I want her father present but I want to be the first to hold her. I asked for them to offer her father the chance to cut the cord. It states I prefer a natural birth but if the doctor feels I need a c-section than I am okay with it. I prefer certain things but in the end I give the final decision to my doctor.
