17 weeks:

Man, its been a hell of a week!
I had to get things prepped for Christmas and get packages mailed and all kinds of crazy things to get ready for having surgery yesterday at 17w even.
Surgery to close and seal my cervix went great. Its called a "McDonald Cerclage" and used merseline tape for those who care to google it). My spotting has almost stopped and my cramping is minimal (I have meds for that) and other than the painful neck/throat from the tube (I had general anesthesia), I feel okay...just really tired.
I'm on bed rest, of course, until bleeding stops completely. Just "moderate" bed rest where I can get up to eat meals and shower and can rest on the couch reclined instead of just laying, so it's not too awful.
My hubby is off work through tomorrow taking care of me and DS and cooking our meals---which he's pretty proud of making delicious semi-gourmet meals, but he ONLY cooks meat (no sides) so I can't wait to get back into MY kitchen and get some darn veggies and sides! He just doesn't have the attention span for more than one dish at a time, haha. And I know if I complain it'll break his poor manly heart, so I'm making do with only meat 3 meals a day. Although I am now constipated from lack of fiber---oops! Thank God my neighbor is supplying dinner tomorrow. She promised veggies for me and pasta for DS---we're ready to beg over here!
As for baby, she is kicking and raising hell, just like usual. It's amazing how strong she is for only a 17 weeker! Can't wait to see how she measures at our ultrasound next Friday! She loves to beat up the ultrasound wand
I bought her bedding (paid $110 for a set that costs a minimum of $230 even on sale!) and made her a hat today (I crochet) and bought yarn for her blanket I am making---hoping that conquering my fears and biting the bullet and just DOING it help me get past the awful fear that if I start prepping, something will happen and I'll be left with a nursery full of things I'll never use---AGAIN. But I love baby shopping, so I need to just get over it!
On my phone, but I'll link belly pics:

Will you be on modified bed rest until you deliver?

After the bleeding is gone, I'm just on light duty and complete pelvic rest (torture! Have you seen the hotness of my DH?) until 36-37 weeks unless my cervix starts to change, then we'll get more and more strict as needed!
I start progesterone injections next week.

My SON has decided what HE thinks his sister's name will be (Ainsley Carmen ____).
DH likes it, but isn't 100%
I want either Ainsley Charlotte, Ainsley Renee (BFF's middle is Renee) or Ainsley Carmen (DH's sister who died as an infant from placental abruption had middle name Carmen). So I'm cool with DS's choice. If DH doesn't decide to veto it soon, she'll be named without DH's approval because big bro already calls her by name

I get checked every 2 weeks too.
And I'll be giving myself the injections. It doesn't bother me.

Aww that's a cute name. We have decided our daughter will be named Kira Elizabeth.
With the cerclage in, how likely are you to not go into labor? I was curious how that works. I've heard it's removed around 36 - 37 weeks but does having one in greatly reduce the risk of complications?
Glad everything is going well. Continuing to keep you and yours in my thoughts.
