Tubal ligation w/ C-section

In July, I'll be delivering my 4th - and final!! - child. I'll be having a scheduled c-section, and in the process, having my tubes tied.

I KNOW there's gotta be quite a few ladies on here who've had it done...I'm kinda curious as to whether or not it's any different healing from a c-section WITHOUT a tubal ligation, and how much time it adds in the operating room?

I just had mine done on the 25th. The only difference I noticed was a little more pain in my stomach during healing, other than that it want much different. I was in the operating room maybe a extra twenty minutes.

Was there anything weird? Like, anything weird I should know going in that I wouldn't think to ask about? lol

Not really. They told me when it was done, and that was that. they will have whoever is in the room with you leave though, or they did with me.

Ugh No   I'm half tempted to have it done later, I want to hurry up and start nursing and I want SO to be with me.

did you have a c section with your other kids? Because either way you'll be in recovery for about an hour, maybe less. Depends on the hospital I think. They just waited until I started getting feeling back ok my legs.

All of my kids have been c -sections...this will be my 4th. I was able to start nursing in recovery with my 2nd and 3rd (1st went straight to NICU so I couldn't)

hm. they wouldn't let me nurse right away with my son, I got to see him for a moment before he was off to the nursery. Probably just the hospital though I'm sure. (:

Apparently so. At my hospital, the only time a baby goes to the nursery right after delivery, is if it's the NICU. Their nursery is only open from like 11pm to 5am.

yeah defiantly different!
the nursery is open all day every day in the hospital where I delivered.

and they just take the baby there straight away?! oh I'd be livid lol

My hospital is REALLY geared towards nursing...if you plan on nursing, they have you latching baby on while they're still examining him/her, and if you send baby to the nursery in the few hours it is open, they need to know when was the last time it ate and will bring it straight away back to you if they think he/she is hungry.

yeah. they examine them in the or, let you see the baby and get a picture, and then off they go with the baby to let your SO hold them in the nursery.
My hospital us very pro breastfeeding too, but I find the nurses aren't very helpful with helping if needed. neither of my children would latch properly, and the nurses were not helping at all.

oh wow! At mine they have lactation consultants available to help ANY time you need it. The baby gets handed over directly to SO in the OR, and examinations are done in recovery while you nurse

Never seen a consultant, and most if them just said keep.trying! And then they wondered why he lost so much weight during his stay. But they did have massage therapists come in like twice a day for a back rub, purple coming in and out to play music and sing and give away random stuff that you'll never end up using. lol.
But they were not capable if helping me breastfeed. :/

That's just nutty
