Babies and piercings.

I'm due to have my DD in March and although I was always against the idea of getting a babies ears pierced because I myself do not think I could watch my child be in pain that I caused (I still cry when my DS gets his needles), I was wondering what others opinions are on the matter? Would you let someone else take your baby and get it done? Wait till they are old enough to ask themselves?

I think it's cowardly to have someone else take your child.. :S

I had my daughters pierced when she was 3 months old, they migrated and had to be taken out just a few months ago. She is now 4.5 years old.
We never pierced our youngest, we are waiting until she asks.,

Id personally wait until they are old enough to understand and accept the pain for the prize in the end, and also old enough to take care of them. Babies ears grow fast, they can often end up uneven when done in infancy.

DH and I decided that we wouldn't pierce DD's ears until she is old enough to want them and help take care of them.

I was so super nervous to get DDs done. I cry every time she gets her shots... I got all worked up for nothing. It was so quick and easy and she didn't even cry (she screams bloody murder for her shots). I'm so glad I went through with it!


I got DDs done at 4.5 months btw.

My mom made me wait until I was nine, and I plan to do the same with mine. I personally think it's unnecessary to pierce a baby's ears as it is purely cosmetic.

We wont be getting LO's ears done until she is old enough and responsible enough to keep her room neat, take out the garbage, keep her grades up and...
You get the idea.

Lol I'll go but I'd tell my mom to come along and hold her while I watch.

I think they look tacky on babies, so I wouldnt until they were at least 5 or older or until they were responsible with it.

It is also a good bribe to make her behave later in life "if she wants those ear piercings!"  

I don't pierce babies ears. I'll wait until she asks... Probably wont be until she's older and in school though, since I don't have my ears pierced anymore.

Same here. I want sometings in return!
Also, i dont need one more thing to tend to. LO just turned 4. MAYBE when i dont have to cut her food, but i sincerely doubt I'll want to do it until she is willing to do back-flips for it.

I agree, I don't find it cute at all  

I had my ears pierced as a baby and if I have a girl I will be piercing hers too. In elementary school while all my friends had infected ears and had to get their ears pierced multiple times because they filled in mine where healed and I could go with out earings when ever I wanted. Never had any problems because I couldn't play with them and my mom took care of them and kept them clean.

i got my ears done when i was a few months old my mom got them done but im not going to do my daughters untill she wants hers done like maybe at 13 the teen years lol i would wait although everyone is diffrent but i just hate to see a child cry after they get their ears done
