kids and ear piercing
posted 19th Dec
So my daughter got her ears pierced about four months ago. They still get crusty and bloody after a couple days of being in and the holes are red. Its not red around the holes, just inside.
Any idea why they aren't healed yet? What can I do to speed along the healing process? She doesn't play with them, they don't bother her at all...

Maybe she's allergic to the metal?

she is probably allergic.

I had the same problem when I was a kid. My mom put my earrings in too tight, which was one problem. The other problem was that they were cheap earrings.
Now, I keep my earrings loose. I put the backs on the little line thingy. I also have to buy nickel free earrings.
Once I took care of those problems, my earrings were fine.

She's probably allergic. Get some real gold backed ones. That's all I can wear because the cheap ones bother my ears

For me I needed the nickel free or sensitive ones, though the real gold or silver were always better.
I hate wearing earnings because of it.

Buy real gold, only use saline wound wash to clean them, DO NOT TURN THEM, do not take them out, just leave them alone!
As for cleaning them, once a day soak a cotton ball in saline solution and clean the crusties off gently.

I dont know. It's "sensitive".... Whatever that refers to. I guess I will go buy some gold ones. How expensive do they run if they're gold, because she constantly looses her earrings. She's already lost five pairs!!

Oh that's dirt cheap. I wasn't sure if they'd be like 30 bucks a pair or something. I dont wear jewelry so I have no idea how much stuff like this costs.

Jesus, yeah not going to happen. She will lose them in a week. Would sterling silver be okay? She has two pairs of those. I don't know what the others are.

All I can wear in my ears are sterling silver. Try them first before taking the plunge into real gold. Gold makes my ears get infected immediately can't wear it even to this day.
