HCG question for those of you TTC and may help.

Hello everyone. I was a member if this site about 5 years ago when I was pregnant with my daughter, Madison. I just recently found out I am pregnant, so I am back! I am kind of in a state of confusion and all the conflicting google searches are making my head explode, and I remember this community being so helpful...so I need to ask some advice & opinions from you all again.

Background:

First day of last period was November 24, 2012

I took 2 first response early read tests on Monday morning and received two faint pink lines within 3 minutes. My boyfriend freaked & drove to the store and made me take 2 clear blue digital tests about an hour later. They came up "not pregnant"

I made a doctors appointment for the same day, at noon. Their test came back negative, but after looking at my first response tests, she said they were certainly positive and sent me in for a blood test.

I received a call later on Monday saying that the blood test came back positive but my HCG level was 11.5

Given the date of my last period, the doctor said that it means it is likely just VERY early. I asked if it could signal miscarriage. She said it really could be either, but she doesn't know so I am due for another test Monday the 24th.

I am stuck in this limbo...waiting for Monday to come, or seeing if I start bleeding. Today would make me 3 days late for my period.

I have looked at so many sites that say this early in pregnancy, a level of 11.5 is considered still pregnant and normal. But I am worried.

Anyone else experience this? Given my last period, expected period, etc...am I just so early that I should stop worrying?

You may of just ovulated late, which would explain the low levels.

I would try not to worry about it yet. HCG that low could mean a ton of stuff. The baby could have implanted later than expected. You could have ovulated later. It could just be a pregnancy with hcg on the lower side of the chart. There is a gigantic range of 'normal' hcg in pregnancy. Have you seen the charts? My first hcg measurement with my last pregnancy put me at 64hcg. I was approx 5ish weeks pregnant. That number doubles every 48 hours, so if i tested a week before then, i probably would have had similar numbers to yours.

When I was right around 5 weeks, I was seen in the ER. They did an ultrasound and couldn't even find a gestational sack, my HCG level was 566. They told me it could be an ectopic pregnancy, since my HCG was "somewhat low" and they couldn't find the sack. I'm now 8 weeks pregnant with a baby that is, in fact, in the right place.

Don't listen to the worst-case-scenario thinking right now. It'll just stress you out and you don't need that right now. The doctor ended up telling me I probably just ovulated later, leading to later implantation - and thus lower numbers.

Glad they helped. Google is great sometimes, but oh my god sometimes it's your worst enemy, too.

I had super low hcg levels with my girls that never doubled on time. They're both fine.

So I popped awake just now, 4:40 am where I live,
And took another FRER. I am using a cup and dipping them...instead of urine stream, feels easier to me.

This will make the 5th HPT, 7th test including doc office urine test & blood test

Within 2 minutes, two pink lines. This one is also faint, but thicker and darker than the last two first response tests.

If I can figure out or remember how to post pictures on here, later today...I will post pics of them!

You are so pregnant! These tests are simply much more sensitive as the doctores. They pick up levels from 5-10.
You will se this line will get darker every day.

Hello ladies,

I got into the lab this morning for the second blood draw. I was too anxious to wait until Monday.

Just got the call back.

HCG level went up from 11.5 to 75

Third blood draw to make sure they are still rising scheduled for after Christmas. She said I'm just one of those ones who just "know"

I guess I can rest a little easier now, even though she said I still need to watch out for miscarriage signs.
