Yeah my husband was same way as in shocked I wanted to do it at first lol. Fortunately we are both researchers so I just showed him the research and he like "oh okay."

I've heard of this but never known anyone who has done it, I am genuinely curious, what is the reason for eating it? And does it taste nice? :')

Well eating it raw can stop hemorrhage but mostly it's made into a smoothie, cooked or encapsulated. Can help you heal faster, gives you natural energy, can help your milk supply, can shrink your uterus to normal size faster and prevent ppd
