Pine Sol Craving

posted 19th Dec
I don' know if this has already been previously posted so forgive me if it has. I loved the smell of Pine Sol before I was pregnant and every now and then I would grab the bottle just to get the scent of it, but it wasn't something I craved. Now that I'm pregnant I crave it more than anything. I've only smelt from the bottle twice while pregnant but I stopped because I figured it wasn't healthy for the baby or me for that matter. So whenever I see something that needs to be cleaned, I'll clean it with Pine Sol to get the scent but I feel like I don't get a good enough whiff of it compared to when I actually get to smell it from the bottle. Noone knows except for my fiance' but I don't think he thinks to much about it.I've heard of something called PICA (I think that's what it's called) where it means you're lacking in something but I'm not sure if that's what this is since I loved the smell before I was pregnant but now it's turned into a craving.

TIA for any answers!!

It's pica

.its an iron deficiency

Get a cast iron skillet, cook everything in it. Super cheap at walmart.

It's normal, I chewed on Irish spring soap and then spit it out when pregnant lol. The craving went away the second she was born.

Both pregnancies I was obsessed with floor cleaner. Specifically the Mr Clean mountain fresh with febreze. Always had to have it.

I had the same thing with dreft laundry detergent when I was pregnant. I did laundry for no reason just to smell it. I dreamt about eating it. It was bad lol

It's called PICA and you need to talk to your doc about it.

I crave the smell of white out and my last preg it was dry erase markers...I told my OB about it and my situation is kinda like yours. I take a whiff of it when I use it. I like the smell of exhaust from a car too. It will go away once the babys born

I craved the smell of fresh rubber and 'cold' (the smell when you open a freezer) when I was pregnant. I use to go to the Tire center at Walmart on my lunch break  . Usually its harmless as long as you control it. Try pre natals with extra iron.

I was the SAME way...every cleaner, detergent etc that I could get my hands on, I wanted to smell. You're lacking something in your diet. Like one mama said, probably iron. But you're not alone... I made a post just like this when I was pregnant!

Thanks for all the replies!   Thought I was going crazy. Currently don't have any pine sol in my home, I happened to walk by the cleaner isle in walmar and couldn't resist taking one quick smell out of the pine sol bottle, but i put it down and kept going.. I bought this hand gel from bath and body works called island nectar and it reminds me of pine sol for some reason, so i'll put it on my hands and take a few sniffs, probably safter than trying to get to an actual pine sol bottle. But I definetly plan on talking to my doctor
