Goodbye naptime...

When your child stopped taking naps - what did you do so they weren't so cranky when 4 o'clock rolls around?

R is 3 and fighting naps more and more every day. He will lay down like he is going to sleep, but ends up getting up and playing or asking 10000000 questions to stay awake. Sometimes he does fall asleep, but lately he's not. He will lay in there for sometimes 2 hours without making a peep, but he never actually sleeps.

He turns into the BIGGEST grouch ever, but I can't FORCE him to sleep - So what do you do? I've heard about quiet times, which he's pretty much doing now, but he's still a grump.

ETA: And to the mothers - how did you deal with no more quiet time for yourself? I always looked forward to watching a TV show of mine, or cleaning with nobody making a mess right behind me. I know that sounds selfish, but if there's no more nap time, when did you find time for yourself?

I'm dealing with this right now. The last two weeks LO has only napped twice I think. I've been putting him in his room for quiet time for about an hour and doing what I need to do. Also, I'm putting him to bed about an hour early!!! That's the best part for me, lol!! I work full time though so I get out of the house often.
