Soft cup and IUD?

posted 19th Dec
I was interested in using a menstrual cup instead of tampon, but I heard that using a cup with an IUD is difficult. Any of you ladies use one with an IUD?

I've never heard you can't. i''ll never go back to tampons. Shoving cotton inside me sounds/feels primitive and gross now.

Does an iud string hang out far?

Apparently there is some risk to actually pulling the IUD out with the cup, but my strings are rather short but I can definitely feel them.

I just love the idea of a cup instead of a tampon, I tend to forgot about my tampons and you can keep a cup in longer than a tampon.

they say your not suppose to because than you can accidently either move the iud or pull it out when you take out the soft cup

I was told to be really careful with menstrual cups. When you remove them, the suction may pull the IUD out.

ETA there is some Dr. that recommend certain cups that have less suction

I also have the paraguard. I almost called my midwife before trying the cup for the first time but then got busy and forgot. Never thought about accidentally pulling it out. I have been using it for 6 months now with no problems but I had my midwife cut my string pretty short because it bugged DH. *Shrugs* I will NEVER use another tampon as long as I live!!!

Easy fix, always break suction before pulling down on cup. I have the Lunette cup and all you have to do is pinch it, the cup part not the part that sticks out!
