recovering from c section

posted 19th Dec
My C-section is tomorrow morning and I am scared about it. I'm excited that my little girl will finally be here but the thing I'm most scared of is the pain after. How much does it hurt, honestly? And do the pain meds make it any better? Is it easier for recovery to be walking and standing, or just sitting? Ph and my bedroom is downstairs.. if I take it very slow will I be able to go up and down stairs?

wait a little bit for stairs. my recovery was easy and fast. i took pain meds the first few days, i don't know if i needed them though. i just took them because it is easier to keep the pain at bay then to treat it once it has been felt

The first three days were the worst, for me. The pain meds helped a ton! If I say for a while then got up I was a little stiff at first but one I was moving it was alot better. Just try not to over do anything.

My recovery was very long and painful as I had alot
Of problems BUT the pain although intense is manageable
Sounds weird but it is. I had alot of pain killers
And I was able to climb up the stairs after about 4 or 5 days
Like I said I had alot of other problems but honestly
Yes it's painful but copable :-) hope this helps.

I couldnt handle the stairs for a week! But I did have a emergency section so maybe I was more banged up than usual. Everyone is different though. Just take it easy and let your body give you ques for what is ok and not ok.

Mine was the worst thing ive ever been thru. I had an emergency c-section tho so they cut me and had baby out in 2 minutes. no prep time, no pain meds, nothing. that being said, my recovery was horrible. i had a pain pump which was nice, i couldnt move for 4 days and when i did move, i cried bc it burned and hurt so bad. i couldnt walk til the 4th day and walking up the stairs to my apartment almost killed me. thank god for drugs!

I had a non emergent csection. My recovery wasn't that bad but I had no idea what to expect because I knew NOTHING about csections. lol...

The sooner you get to moving the better but you don't want to over do it. We didnt leave the hospital until 4 days after my csection, I was bugging the nurse to let me get up and get a shower and start moving around! I would stay on top of your pain meds too, it is better to stay on top of the pain- there is nothing wrong with taking them even if your are breast feeding.

It hurt really bad to bend your waist in any way- getting in and out of bed etc. and it hurt really bad to cough and laugh! What helped was to make a splint and put it at your inscison site when you did.. Sitting up from laying in the bed was really hard too!! If you have a recliner I would honestly try to sleep in that lol

Oh! Bring underwear/pants that can go over your inscision so they aren't resting on it.

Our bedroom is in the basement at my inlaws so I was going up/down the stairs, walking around just fine like 5 days after mine. I felt ok after a week and was completely fine after a month or less.

It's just hard at first but remember it will pass

You can get it wet. I had the steri strips only no staples or anything and I got to shower 2 days after mine.

What if I get staples? I heard you can't get them wet cuz they will rust?

I'm going to ask my Dr about steristrips though because I really don't want staples

I have only had the steristrips and they were a piece of cake! I would never want to have staples lol I was too afraid to even look at my inscison so I didn't even know I didn't have staples until I got my SO to tell me what it looks like and how big it was etc.

I had my c-section yesterday and was up and around 12hrs after, would have been sooner but they wouldnt let me. I have staples and once the take my dressing off i can shower. The staples r surgical grade steel so they dont rust. If u think about it anything that rusted couldnt be used or ud get infections, there is a certain amount of seepage from ur wound.
