Mastitis without fever?

Can you have mastitis without a fever? I've been having supply issues, and I just pumped right before I went to bed. I felt a little soreness coming on in my left breast, and I woke up to feed my daughter and BAM. It's hard, hot, and pretty painful. It was so sudden, and shocking considering I haven't had engorgement issues, and I haven't gone more than 2 hours without expressing in some way for well over a week now. IDK what happened. I'm also freezing, have a headache, my whole body hurts, I'm sort of disoriented/dizzy... but apparently no fever, unless both of my thermometers are broke   I do have a doc appointment later, thankfully, but I feel like smurf. It feels like I suddenly, real suddenly, got the flu  

Sounds like mastitis. The fever may develop soon.

If it is, will that cause me to cease breastfeeding? I've already been having problems and she's getting mostly formula  

No. I had it twice with LO it's just extremely painful. You need to fee on that breast and try to empty it completely. Go in the shower and massage it and try to get as much out as possible. Avoid the pump as that may have been what caused it in the first place. Go to your doctor ASAP because you'll need antibiotics.

If it is some other symptoms besides the severe pain is you might get a red line from your nipple down your breat where it hurts

Just kidding, I developed a fever overnight   I couldn't stop twitching from the shakes, and now I have a reading of 101.3. I have an appointment in a few hours, so I'm going to be telling her and getting some antibiotics. Thank you!
