Home birth

posted 18th Dec
How do you even get started with planning for a home birth?? How much does it cost if you get your prenatal care covered by health insurance? Or how does that all work out??
If you had a home birth, how much did the midwife charge?

If we have another child I would like to have him/her at home just because I feel more comfortable being home and in my own element. My previous births were complication free and I had super fast labor and deliveries. My obgyn said that next time I might not make it to the hospital.

Any insight will help! Thanks!

You would need to first see if your insurance accepts a Midwife to do home births, some don't, well mine didn't just at a birthing center in network. If not you would need to pay the Midwife out of pocket, you can do payments but they usually want a huge deposit and the payments need to be paid before your EDD. Once you got all of that settle you can look up home birth kits online and it will provide everything you need for that day as a back up if your Midwife can't make it on time. Midwives always carry these supplies with them for births but, it's safe to have your own if plans instantly change like unassisted by accident. The average cost in total for a Midwife is $5-7K. My total cost for the birthing center was $6500, my insurance paid the majority, my Fiance and I ended up paying $855 as the rest but in payments of $145 for each visit as copay. One more thing, research and read as much as you can about home births. It's very important you do this, like I said if anything changes you can at least be prepared and your partner.

Bahahaha! yes!! But at the same time no. I want to finish school or get close to finishing first. I have baby fever for half the day and then my kids drive me crazy and it goes away. Trevor said I could get a dog for my birthday in june so hopefully that keeps the baby fever away!!
