Baby Last Name.

Okay, so i just had my baby girl a couple weeks ago. I gave her my last name and I put my name on the birth certificate and thats it.
I did it this way because her dad didn't want anything to do with me/her during my pregnancy and now he just looks at it as "oh i have a baby" like the fun part. not the responsible part, he doesn't help buy her anything. & we aren't married, we aren't even together.
But now he's making a big deal about her having my last name.
Can he get it changed or is that my say?

They'd need both of your signatures. So no, he can not change her name without your consent.

That is your say, the court would request you to sign over the rights of the last name which you can refuse.

Your say ...plus hes not on the birth certificate so he really has no choice in the matter

He can get it changed if he pays for a lawyer,DNA test and the judge decides baby should have his name
He will most likely end up paying CS if he does this

He cannot change it without your signature

No he can't. You have the legal right to name your child whatever you want. I am not married but am still with the father and our baby will have my last name.

nope, it's up to you. maybe one day if he pulls his big-boy pants up and acts like a man, it can be changed  

He cannot change it without your permission. If he tries to go to court, and they CONSIDER it, probably still won't happen if he's not a part of your life like you say.

It takes 2 to change it. I even took dd bd to court he requested it to be changed but he has yet attempte to go with me and now I moved. Id take him to court.now. Get tge financial issue out of the eay. He will just come and go.

Your BD sounds like mine lol. Nope, it is your choice. He CAN however take you to court over it & try to get it changed. That costs a good amount of money though & reasonable proof that it is in the child's best interest. My BD tried to say he was going to get my DD's last name changed to his, like good luck. He doesn't care enough to even attempt that & he hasn't lol.

Only if the last name change is for the best interest of the child, not just because he thinks the child should have his last name just because the child is his.

I did the same, DD has my last name and BD isn't on birth certificate. They told me when I signed it that the name cannot be changed without my permission.

They could, but they have to prove he's the father since he's not on the birth certificate. Unless that guy goes through that process then he's out of luck for now at least.
