getting a tubal after vaginal delivery

What is the process? One of the midwives at my doctor's office said I could only get one if I had a c-section done.

ETA: Has anyone tried Essure?

They usually do it the next day by laparoscopy.

Depends-- If you aren't swollen, they may do it the same day or the next day. My friend was too swollen and had to go back a few weeks later.

I had one immediately after delivery with the same epidural. Buuuuuuuuuuuut, it failed because they couldn't visualize the tubes. So I had to go back 6 weeks later.
I am a chubby bunny though and I think that hampered their efforts.

Now I'm trying to decide if a tubal is the way to go. We definitely don't want any more kids because they always have to get blood transfusions at birth.

My friends had a horrible expirence with the essure and has ended up having several surgeries to try and fix it.

What's paraguard?

I've heard some pretty nasty things about the essure.
Some doctors will perform the tubal while you're still in the hospital with the epidural in place. Others will do it at the 6 week PP check up.
