Quoting Alicia Holz:" ok just looked it up and i guess in some states judges see it as hitting a child..cause in there eyes ... [snip!] ... in there eyes what if it was a child...if they take it to court the judge might look at how fast you were going and ect..."While this *could be* true in some cases...you'd have to be a crackpot judge to compare this to hitting a kid if it is like he OP stated: "You're driving at night on a hwy close to neighborhoods." I can't imagine you'd be held financially responsible even if it was a child as there is NO reason for a child to run out onto a highway at night.....
Quoting Fatty McRunnerPants:" This almost same scenario has happened to me, although the dog wasn't badly injured, and I told the owner ... [snip!] ... under 18 riding a bike must wear a helmet. Guy up the street was never the same, though... wouldn't drive for over a year "
Quoting Viv, Ev & Gwen ♥:" Man I bet, I'd have so much guilt and anxiety if I killed a kid, even if it was an accident and no fault of mine "
