Failed Induction

So I was scheduled to be induced yesterday (Sunday) due to high blood pressure. But I went to my appt on Friday and both of my midwives were out of the office just by chance. So my appt was with the Dr instead. My blood pressure was pretty high so she (the Dr) pretty much freaked out and told me to go to the hospital right then. They wanted to start pitocin right then. But I had my 3 yo DD with me and my hubs was still at work and we weren't finished packing. So I went home, met my husband, packed and met my SIL to take our DD. I was really really upset because MY midwife (i have two but the one that delivered my daughter and I've been seeing for all gyno issues since I was like 1  couldn't be there. So I basically bawl like a baby in the office. So while I am driving home they call me and tell me I can wait to start pitocin in the morning (saturday) when my midwife can be there, but I still have to go right then and be hooked up to the moniters all night etc... So we get to the hospital and spend the night- my blood pressure being checked every 15 minutes. My BP stays normal the whole time I am there except in the middle of a contraction after the pit was started. Pit started at 7am. Contractions suck but I am managing- I really really don't want to do the epidural this time. Midwife comes in and checks me at 11- no change- still at 2 cm and baby VERY high. She comes back a little before 3 and exactly the same. So since my blood pressure is fine when I am laying down and the pitocin isn't making me progress AT ALL she turns it off and sends me home . She is super pissed at the Dr above her for making me go to the hospital at all. I am on bed rest at home now. I went in to see my midwife today and my BP was still okish.... So I do another freaking 24 hour urine collection, and more blood work on thursday morning and then go see her. Depending on all the test results, and if baby is dropped down more or my cervix is thinning/dilating more we either induce over the weekend or I stay pregnant until my BP gets even higher or he comes on his own. She just doesn't want to do another induction and it not work then baby is in distress and I have to have a c section. I am just feeling so discouraged  I thought I was meeting my baby boy but NOPE he came back home in my belly not his carseat. I didn't even realize at the time how disappointed I was. This update was mostly for my PT- what few of you still get on here;) and just to vent....

But as anyone else ever been induced and it failed so you were sent home??

thank you for posting the links for me  I read them and I am on bed rest but not pelvic rest so we have really been trying to sex it up  Hopefully that is doing something to my cervix.

So what ended up happening did you go in again and the induction work or did you actually go into labor on your own??

I went back in on the 9th at midnight, they put in prepidil. I started having some contractions at 1am that were strong and painful but bearable. By 5am they were pretty bad... They started pitocin at 8am and I was still only 1cm, by 12 I was at a 4 they broke my water and gave me the epidural. I hit 10cm at 2pm and had her at 2:21pm

You could ask them about using a cervix softener like prepidil/cervidil. For some women that is enough and they don't even need the pitocin but if they do use pitocin after it makes your cervix dilate a lot easier. Also I read breaking your water forces baby to move down, as long as they don't do it too early or you could stall and have a c section if you don't have the baby by 24 hours.

that's not so bad... I was hoping to read you went into labor and had her without being induced lol

She didn't think there was a need for cervidil because I went into it 2 cm dilated and 50%effaced. But when/if I am induced again we will more than likely be doing cervidil overnight and pitocin the next morning. Also my midwife and I have some reservations about doing the cervidil thing because it made my DD's heart rate go SKY high- and I almost had to have a c section right then... luckily her heart rate went back down to normal about 30 min after it was taken out. With my induction with her I was 41 weeks 2 days and not dilated AT ALL even after the few hours of cervidil- started pitocin at 9 am and things happened fast- had her at 5 48pm. The problem this time is my son is just not dropping down. She won't break my water until he is locked down into position. It's not even an option as far as she's concerned....

That is so weird I have not heard of a failed induction. Just try and do lots of walking and baby dancing lol. I am so freaking excited for you!!! Do you have another DR app soon?

I can't walk  Only up to pee and shower  We are for real trying the sex thing out though- hopefully that's doing something! I go back thursday. I'm excited too- I just want him OUT now lol... At first I was like NO NO I want to go into labor on my own... but since everything that has happened I just want him out already!

Im curious as to why they have you on bed rest now since its ok for him to come now? I thought bed rest was only to keep baby in, but I'm wrong.

I hope so too! It is boring just thankful I don't have to be on bed rest for weeks or months like so many mamas!! And I am 95% sure I still have your number but let me check in the morning- my phone is dead right now lol. I'll inbox you here or on fb if I need it again!
