My midwife was reluctant to check me even in labour because she 'didn't want to cause infection' so I figure it can happen. I don't know anyone who's got an infection up there from semen...

Your own bodies natural germs and bacteria and stuff are less likely to cause an infection than someone elses, even with gloves. You're also not supposed to be checked after your water breaks.

I'm 37+5 and have never been checked. I really want to know if I'm dilated, and if so how much. I'd be curious to check myself, but I wouldn't even know what to feel for, so I think il leave it lol
