excitement, and saddness

Hello,
I am approx. 22 days late for my period and have taken 3 pregnancy test. All of them have been negative. I have already had a miscarriage, and have been told since i was 17 that I would never get pregnant. I thought this would be my chance. I cannot help but feel disappointed.. but how do I understand why I am late? and the cramping in my abdomen? And the headaches? I do not have the sore boobs like last time but I heard that every pregnancy is different... any advice? thanks
