Poop stains?

posted 17th Dec
DS is still working on potty training. He will tell me if he needs to go pee or poop. He normally goes by himself. This is the first time he's worn underwear with me. Normally he's naked because it taught him not to potty in the floor or his pants. Well he got up once today and he had a wet light tan spot on his underwear. I asked if he need to go poop. He said no. Just now I noticed another one. It was dry but it looks the same. A light tan spot on his underwear. I again asked if he need to go poop and he said no. Are these poop stains maybe? I can't think of what else they would be....

That happened to my daughter a few times because she was trying not to poop. Even if I asked if she had to poop she would say no. But it definitely could have just slipped out with a fart too.

He was diagnosed with a small case of chronic constipation when he was 3 months old. I'm assuming he still has it because he doesn't poop on a regular basis

OK, I don't want to scare you but when you start seeing fecal leakage it's time to consult the Dr. How old is your LO?

Right but if he's having fecal leakage then he has impacted stool. Read up on it. I thought my Son was "fine" too because he had what I thought were regular bowel movements so we couldn't figure out why he was having leakage. Finally the leakage got so bad he had a bleeding rash (because it was constant) so we took him to the Hospital and he was sent to Texas Childrens where he was admitted for 3 days due to "severe impacted stool".

In the mean time Miralax is great for this. Ever since being discharged he's been on this and will be likely for a very long time. A full cap full 17g will help get things moving for your Son.
