to the Americans (and anyone who wants to reply)

After friday's tragedy - which I send out my deepest sympathy's to your country. I am and along with all of Canada and I'm sure other countries, just wondering if this will change gun control? ... I'm not here to say that evil would not happen if all guns were eliminated but in all honesty that guy had 6 guns- is that really needed- for the people who do own guns (other than hunting guns) have you ever actually had to use it? This is not an attack on your country or laws, but Canada is really hoping some positive changes come out of this tragedy. I personally don't see the freedom in owning gun, and more often it kills innocent lives than saves. obviously I am an outsider, and live in a Country that does not allow us to carry weapons, but I was just wondering If Americans want change?

It probably won't change much. It might change the discussion about mental illness, though.

I want change.
I want more law abiding citizens to have their concealed and carry. Criminals will always have guns.

Lol wtf, don't speak for Canada.
How about "Canada is really hoping you can take time to grieve and we're very sorry to hear about this tragedy."

It's more of a mental illness issue and lack of resources than gun control.
but I doubt that funding will be increased for the lacking mental health services.
There will more than likely be armed guards in every school, but other than that, I doubt there will be any changes.

I'm hoping it brings about more help for those who have mental illnesses.

I wish we could get armed guards.

The tragedy was terrible. It certainly brought me to tears.
In a way, I wish guns were never invented. But now that they are out there, it'll be almost impossible to control them.

We have some, mainly in the High School's in urban areas.

I want change to our system of handling mental illness.
I'd want better parenting so kids won't be allowed to play violent videos (or any videos) for hours.
I want people to realize that it was a gun that ended this tragedy, too.
I want people to pick better partners so there is less single-parenting and divorce.

This is what I assumed would happen as well. We'll see what really transpires, it's hard to tell.

I honestly think that ANYONE who is in a position to take care of others, and who is in charge of making sure other's are safe (ie teachers, principals, daycares, etc) SHOULD carry guns. We trust these people to care for our kids. We should trust them to hold guns to make sure they are safe in an instance like this.
