Freezing fruits and veggies?

I am trying to eat healthy, we have a tight budget for food though (FS) and when I buy fruits and veggies, even if I eat them all the time I usually end up throwing a lot out. Can you freeze foods like blueberries, strawberries, watermellon, avacado, letuce, cucumbers etc. How would you thaw them and how long in advance before you ate them?

The fruit are the only thing I'd freeze. The rest wouldn't survive unfreezing.

I wouldn't freeze avocados, lettuce or cucumbers. If you can't find it in the frozen food section, I wouldn't freeze it.

Berries can be frozen fresh.

Do not freeze Watermelon, Lettuce, Cucumbers.

You can freeze tomatoes if you blanche them. Some veggies you'd need to blanche first, so they're partially cooked or they get all funky after being frozen.

Don't freeze the avocado either. Unless already prepared and vacuum sealed.

Don't freeze fruits/veggies. When you thaw them out, they'll be soggy. I tried it, trust me.

Keep tropical climate foods out, i.e. bananas, cucumbers, tomatoes, avocado. It keeps them fresher a bit longer, and refrigerating can cause freezing, loss of taste, and cause them to go bad faster. Certain foods should never be stored together. Tomatoes should be stored alone. They give off gases that make food ripen/ go bad faster. Never store potatoes and onions together. So many. lol

Aside from bananas I didn't know any of that! Thanks, I'm going to try all of these. I keep almost ALL my veggies around my tomatoes, (oops)..Thank you!

If you freeze the berries, they'll be soggy lik someone said, though if you eat them straight from the freezer as a snack, it's like eating a yummy popsicle. Probably not the best time of yr, but a great snack in the summertime.
