I usually don't hear people say that the videos cause the problems. It's something that makes SOME kids vulnerable in their brain PLUS parents that may be absent or in attentive OR parents that just aren't taking notice of the oddball kid as it means they have to get involved in their life on a more significant level PLUS some other factors the feed a potentially angry and smurfed up kid (divorce, smurffy dad, abuse of some kind, etc)

I'm confused are you asking whether we should ban violent games or just make them harder to get hold of?

They are not made nor marketed for young children.

They provide an adrenaline rush and competion with ones self.
So yes, fun for adults and big kids.

I used to be big into the FPS and played constantly but have not had the time in the recent past to play.
I could easily have become addicted to gaming

MMORPG = massively-multiplayer online role-playing game.
They are very popular and very addictive as you get very drawn-into the game and the role-play.
After I played it for a few months, I swore I'd never let kids play it as it started to alter things I thought about during the day. Of course, I'm a stable, healthy, mature adult but a child's brain or a young adults brain who doesn't have the greatest home life would find a very fun and addictive fantasy life there. I was into one that was designed to be less violent (no red blood or gore), but lots of people "stepped up" to the very violent ones.
These games are a very different "breed" and, IMO, can easily warp an unprotected kid. Sure, other things might set them off, but I think these games especially .... I don't know the word.... But, I think if you played one for a while, you'd know. Lol
I don't suggest it as they are more addicting than BG .

I get what you're saying
I didn't play in online forums, so I would imagine it would be more intense.

I guess I have a hard time making that jump from game playing a game to actually being violent and killing in real life.
I love killing smurf on the PC, but it had no bearing on how I felt or acted.

I do agree that there is a level of desensitization that comes with these games and this in itself can cause issues. I just think a person has to "have it in them" to kill.

If you can be pushed, you were already that type of person and noone and nothing else can be blamed for your actions.

I'm guilty of letting my 3 year old son play violent games... such as call of duty. He loves them, but we stress that it is only make believe. Go ahead... tell me how smurffy I am as a parent.

Lol jk my kids love zombies but they know it's all fake and not real. I think it's one thing to be violent then just seeing it.

Kids would be violent imo if their parents are violent or they have no disiplene

glad to see some people on here let there little kids play cod. it is just a game and im sure they realize it. they will hear worse stuff in school anyways.

i dont think the games will make them a killer. has there even been proof that a shooter killed because he played a game?

Do we need to do more and make it harder to purchase these extreme video games or is it just like anything else that's dangerous in the home, if you have them around do you make sure your kids are not watching you play and are kept far away from them?

I was allowed to watch R rated movies my entire life and I have never been violent ever.
My sisters and I were also allowed to play whatever video games we wanted and none of us ever tried to hurt anybody.

I think it's stupid that people want to blame video games and media instead of putting the blame where it should go, and that is on the parents.
