And mostly, I don't know how any country will ever make progress if they have no desire to change things that are not working."That's a good idea, considering you're commenting on what one person said.

She & I are very similar in many ways, but there are also vast differences in MANY ways between our upbringings & general culture. Some of these differences have taken years for us to realize & uncover & we talk daily. They may seem subtle but they shade the lens you view issues with significantly. I have spent lots of time in Canada & have to say I have enjoyed going there because it is different. I wouldn't bother to go there if it wasn't.

Quoting shes*almost*one!:" you could find great differences state to state too -- that wasnt the argument"There are differences from one city to the next, I still don't think it's the same as the differences between these 2 countries. I was responding specifically to the post I quoted. I agree that Canada & the US have a lot in common, but we also have some vast differences. The differences we have between states in some cases can be chalked up to States rights & the ability for each state to set some laws themselves & such, but overall, there are also some prevailing American attitudes that you just don't see in Canada. Some of those attitudes I love, some not so much, but they are still there.
