Lol. Are you really going to argue about the meat in a shepherd's pie?

Apparently. Ground beef is very offensive.

Lol no. But you can't call it shepherd's pie when it isn't made with lamb. It's called Shepherd's pie because it's made with lamb. What you make is Hamburger casserole. I am just a foodie. I am not being Gordon Ramsey and calling her a smurfing moron for not knowing what Shepherd's pie is, just letting her know Shepherd's pie isn't made with ground beef.

Shepherds herd sheep not cows, that is why shepherd's pie is called what it is because it's made with lamb not beef.

Lots of shepherds pie recipes use beef too. It's still called shepherds pie. Lol.

Indeed.

Not to mention, isn't a hamburger casserole all mixed in together, not layered?

Maybe it's because I'm half irish and make it the right way. Shepherd's pie is made with ground lamb and if you use beef then it's not shepherds pie, it's Hamburger casserole.

I know you're not trying to be an smurf, but you sound like a snob.

Really.... it's a freaking shepherd's pie. C'mon. Even if I call it a smurfing ice cream sundae, it's meat, potatoes, and some other smurf layered into what most consider to be a shepherd's pie. "The right way".... please.

That's not being snobby, that's how it got it's name, from the meat (lamb) that is used to make it. Shepherd's were the ones who started the dish and they made it with the meat they raised(sheep). You wouldn't take salmon, make it into a patty and call it a hamburger. I was just saying a true shepherd's pie is made with lamb, the meat the people (Shepherd's) raised.

How? Because I know what a traditional shepherd's pie is? And my Irish grandmother would tell everyone, "this isn't shepherd's pie!" when someone used ground beef.
