In the light of things...i am NOT sending my son to a public

posted 17th Dec
With a bunch of idiots who dont care about their students....ALL private schools in the state of HI have private funding to assist in a national terrorism plan of action. and doors to every classroom are locked from the inside. and most private schools here are locked from the outside once school starts and climbing or not there is no way in. tuition isnt that bad either its only $24,000 a year including books and excursions.

im glad i am fortunate enough to send my son to a private school...seriously don't know where id be w.o my husband...days like these i just want to hug my son all day and tell him how glad i am he's safe...

Lots of public schools are locked after school starts. With Sandy Hook, the guy had to be buzzed in, he didn't just walk in. Most school shootings are done by people that are some how connected to the school. So they can still happen at private schools as well.

not everyone can afford $24,000 a year...and Hawaii may not be #1 for education but it's safety regulations are very good. When I was in High school we had a lock down for a suspicious person being on campus. literally within minutes of the man stepping on campus all the classes we locked from the inside(obviously teachers hold their own key) and we were not even allowed to leave school until it was cleared(it was the last period of the day)..also there is always at least 2 cop cars in the district at all times so I think it's safe to say going to a public school is just as safe as a private.

I went to private school & it sucked. I'll be enrolling LO in a public school that has really good safety precautions.

I'm sorry but at Sandy Hook the teachers sacrificed themselves for the kids. How can you say that they don't care about their students?

You can get private school here for less than $3,000 per year.
We homeschool though. Not for this reason....for many others that are wholly unrelated.

Children are not safe. Not at home, not at school, no where - if you are alive, you are at risk for being killed by natural or external causes every waking hour of every day.

In fact, if you really want to reduce your child's risk of death keep him out of cars & never let him swim. FAR more children will die in car accidents & swimming pools this year than in ANY schools for any reason.

I find it odd that here in Ontario we dont have this type of thing going on at all. But are schools are locked down in a better way then everywhere else.

I mean my kids school the main enterance is the only one you can buzz at the door, but once let in, it enters to the principles office where someone is waiting for you. (when you buzz you are on camera) Then you have to sign in and are walked down to your childs class, or they send someone to get your child if you are just picking them up. And not seeing the teacher.

When they go in from recess time their a few doors around the school, but they unlocked from the inside by awaiting teachers at a certain time. IDK.

But my kids are off school today, are schools are on strike right now. lol

not talking about the teachers.... lack of funding that goes towards public schools here are ridiculous.

homeschool was also one of my choices. because children do not need to be exposed to drugs, violence at such a young age. some say sheltered. i say no. just not exposed while their brains are not even mature enough to deal with that kind of thing.

no idea. but statistically its less likely. i personally have never heard of a major shooting at a private school done by a student or a teacher. Now im sure if you google it and scrutinize every little thing you'll find something. But so far nothing that I know of that was this major happening at a private school

because if you dont notice...the sentence after that starts talking about private funding for private schools. why would teachers have anything to do with funding....? that makes no sense.
