Mirena removal and mc?

posted 17th Dec
This may not be the right place to ask this but I thought I would ask.

Since our recent loss I have been doing a lot of looking around and reading and I have found a lot of people have had a loss after coming off Mirena. In fact the night I got mine removed a couple was there and told my DHS that they got it out last year, got pregnant and sadly lost theirs at 9wks. Perhaps Mirena has some kind of connection with the percentage of m/cs?

Maybe I am looking to blame it on something though... I dunno just thought I would ask what you ladies might have to say on the matter.

In theory it makes sense if you got pregnant right after removal. Mirena is supposed to make your uterus uninhabitable for pregnancy, it makes sense that it would take some time for your uterus to get back to normal. How long after removal did you get pregnant? Also forgot to add, I'm sorry for your loss

I had it in from April 2012 to Oct 2012 (had bad pains in my ovaries and pain during sex the whole time) I didn't bleed at all while I had it. I got my first PP period on Nov. 1st and we got pregnant on the 20th. We weren't planning this pregnancy or anything but still. The period I had was normal or just a bit heavy so I figured my uterus was getting normal. I estimated I miscarried at around 5.5wks which is when I have read most had their losses as well.

Yeah, it sounds like that was probably why. I mean, I'm no expert but it sounds logical, you know? Either way, I'm very sorry.

I agree 100% I think it's just a little misleading for doctors to say go ahead without warning you that the risks are higher.

This has happened to me also
I had the marina coil taken out in July, then I had a period in August. It took me 4 months to get pregnant. I thought the pregnancy was going great but then i got to 8 weeks 1 day & i started spotting which gradually got worse so GP sent me to EPU last Monday for a scan & there was a 6 week gestation sac but no baby. I had a miscarriage on the 12.12.12.
I've also read online about women having a m/c after having the coil taken out, makes you wonder if there's something in it. I wouldn't recommend anyone having the marina coil fitted not if they want any more kids, i just wouldn't like to think of any woman going through heartache that i'm going through at the moment

I had the same thing happen. I had mirena for almost a year after my 3rd baby was born. We decided to ttc baby 4 and had if removed in may 2010. I got pregnant 2 weeks later. Sadly, the baby stopped growing at 7 weeks 6 days. I also blame mirena. I did get pregnant again in October and have my healthy baby girl!

I had mirena removed, and after waiting a few months for my period to return got pregnant after my first period. I had a MC, and then a second MC a few months later. 9 months after removal I got pregnant and am having a healthy baby girl now. I dont know if I can blame mirena or not, but the thought is there.

DH and I talked about it and decided to wait on actively trying until Jan/Feb like we originally planned. I just hope I won't end in another loss.

We were going to wait another year but it actually works out nicely for us to have another this year since we will be here for a while and I can't go back to school yet. This is all on a play by ear though...so if by January I don't feel like I am ready then we will wait.
