Quoting TheNuge:" I agree. THAT is a big difference between now and 2 decades ago. Becasue both parents work, kids ... [snip!] ... kids go home and wait until parents are home. they dont go out and play and interact with PEOPLE both familiar and unfamiliar."Literally I can't tell you how many times in my childhood I heard "Why are you in the house?"...lol We were supposed to be outside if it were at all feasible & daylight. I try to do the same with my kids bu tit is hard still at their age as it requires me to be outside & I can't always do that as much as I'd like. But in the Summer - we spend the majority of the day outdoors if it is at all possible - as in even when it's over 100 degrees. People forget that we all grew up without air conditioning & survived it - being hot isn't a problem to kids as long as they stay hydrated. And in the winter you can always bundle up more. There IS a lot more limitations in winter though. My 2 yr old still isn't all that coordinated once he is bundled & in his big boots. LOL So he is only good for about 20-30 mins at a go before frustration overrides it being fun.
