Is your job scary?

Simple question: Is your job a scary one? Do you ever fear that someday you won't be coming home to your children/family/pets/what have you? Why or why not?

I work in a gas station/convenience store and my job isn't scary and I don't fear my job until somebody asks me if I'm scared working at a gas station. I bet nobody asks teachers if their jobs are scary but schools are getting shot up more than suburban convenience stores.

I'm a prek teacher and I've always been scared. U never know what crazy parent is gonna come shoot you up just because they are on drugs or lost custody or skmething stupid. I know it doesn't seem scary but yes it is. I've had parents gonosycho over custody issues before.

I work in a daycare. It wasn't always scary but it is now.
I find myself getting anxious for no reason or thinking of what I would do of something were to happen.

When I worked at Rent-A-Center as a collections manager, yes. I was terrified. I would go to some horrible neighborhoods alone to try to take someone's TV back. I was sure I'd get shot.

I'm not working yet but I'm 18 months away from becoming a teacher, after Friday I'm terrified about it.

Me being a SAHM, I can say I don't worry about myself.

Though my husband is a Paramedic, and I worry about him constantly. I never know what part of the city he is in. I constantly worry about him running 911 calls regarding gangs. Since it has gotten cold, I worry about him when he leaves to go to work due to possible icy roads. I worry about him getting into an accident on the freeway due to fast code 3 driving. There are a million things I worry about when it comes to him and his career.

Yes, but in a different manner. I'm exposed to a lot of nasty illnesses, and the hospital I work at is near the jail, so we get all the convicts.

Thank goodness I work in a badged office. No weirdos getting in there!!

when I worked as a preschool teacher we had special swipe cards that we had to use to even get in the building! So I never really feared anything... I work at a store now and sometimes think what would they do if we were being robbed or someone came in here on a killing spree where would we hide?

DH is a lineman and works with power around the mines. Yes, his job scares me.

This probably isnt what you're asking, but I think as a parent, being a parent is the most terrifying job OF ALL. The constant worry over your children's health, mental/ emotional well-being, academics, safety, etc. I have so much anxiety over letting my children out of my sight or even putting them in the car to go somewhere, especially since my younger sister was killed in a car accident a little over a year ago. Every time I turn on the news there seems to be another reason to put my children in a bubble. But realistically I cant. I cant fill their worlds with worry, I cant taint there childhoods with fear of the what-ifs in life, I cant let them realize that the world is such a scary place.

no, i don't see anyone but my coworkers and a computer all day.
I would just be scared of like a bomb bc it's located in a really popular location
