What after effects after a 8 week abortion do you have?

posted 16th Dec
So im 8 weeks and thinking about abortion this week. i was against them but im still real early and i have 3 kids and a stepson, my husband cheated and just came home to be with us. I have a lot going on and i dont think another child right now is a good idea and a lot of work. After any of you had the vacuum abortion what side effects or feelings with your body did u have? Did you bleed a lot or for days, did it hurt?

You can still take the pill until week 9.

Well, I never had one, but on the planned parenthood site it says it starts a new cycle, so you will probably have some sort of bleeding, but you can return to normal activities and work the next day.

Sorry I couldnt be of more help.

You can chat with a repr of Planned Parenthood here, too.

I had a surgical abortion at 8 weeks 5 days.
I was sedated during, and after I woke up I experienced some mild period like cramping and spotting. I was given a two week supply of antibiotics and ibuprofen and told to not have sex or engage in heavy lifting for the same amount of time.
I felt well enough to go out to dinner with my family later the same day after sleeping off the anastetic for a few hours.
I had a follow up ultrasound and urine test at the two week mark after the abortion and my period returned about 6 weeks after.
Good luck OP.

I have had two vacuum aspiration abortions; one at 11 weeks, the other at 9 weeks.

I was under general anaesthetic, so felt nothing.

When I woke up, I was in no pain whatsoever after my first, but I was in quite a bit of pain after my second the cramps were like very early labour pain :/

Both times there was minimal bleeding. They remove most of the blood and lining during the procedure I think, so there is hardly any bleeding compared to a medical abortion or natural miscarriage at the same gestation. Both times after the first 3 hours or so I needed no more support than a thin pantyliner

The pain after the second one subsided within a few hours

The only after-effects I have experienced have been emotional difficulties, but I think this was because I was already predisposed to mental illness and I didn't want to have either of the abortions I was doing it because I thought it was for the best, but I really wanted to keep them so I have found it hard to deal with emotionally x

I had a vacuum abortion and it was horrible....my boyfriend carried me out of the hospital...I almost collapsed. I had horrible cramping for the next few days... Although I don't have anything eles to compare it to, it was horrible, horrible experience..I can still remember the pain but I don't even know how to describe it....I had friends who had one after and there experience didn't seem as bad, and I don't know how far I was they never told me and I didn't even want to know (had to be before 13 weeks anyways)
I bled for like 2 months....they told me to go to emerge if I had bad clotting and I did, I remember one morning just being in so much pain and in tears, when I went to the bathroom I had passed a huge clot that was the size of a golf ball but I can't remember the exact time frame but it was AT LEAST 2 weeks later.
