Should my 18 month old know Santa?

DD is completely oblivious to christmas and Santa. She doesnt know about presents, she doesnt understand unwrapping things and that gift is hers, none of it. She loves the decorations and the tree and the lights- but she doesnt care for too long. She doesnt want to help decorate (monkey see monkey do). She just wants to play with what she wants, when she wants.

Did your 18 month old know about Santa and grasp the concept of presents and christmas? DD is soooo happy with everything, ESPECIALLY empty boxes she can sit and play in. She would prefer her shape sorter to everything else.

cameron really did start to understand christmas and santa til after he was 2.

my son will be 2 in a month and doesnt really understand it.

My 3 year old just thinks Santa is scary and wants nothing to do with him. She even said she would rather her presents go back to the store then him to visit her.

my daughter was almost 18 months last year and didn't. she enjoyed christmas but didn't "get it". she's almost 2.5 this year and she seems to understand it pretty well now. so next year your LO should get it

my nephews two and is OBSSESSED with Santa and Christmas and presants and the lights and the "detinations" (decorations). lol.

Thank you ladies. I feel like I'm failing her because she doesnt get it, and MIL is acting as if DD should completely understand it all by now. My nephew is 2 and he is even more oblivious! LOL. Hes in his own world that kid, I love him.

MIL asks if we are making cookies for santa and i told her, DD will want to eat them all. Can you imagine a two year old helping make cookies and NOT be allowed to eat any? it doesnt make any sense to me to do it at this age.

My daughter is 2 and doesn't understand who Santa is, but she says 'love Santa ho ho ho' whenever she sees something Christmassy hahaha. You don't need to force it or hide it.

This is the first year my daughter, fully understands Christmas & she's 3

ha my daughter absolutely loves helping me bake and frost, but she's always sneaking treats as much as I try to get her not to. they just don't have that impulse control yet

LOL OH MY GOODNESS! LOL What are you going to tell her christmas morning when she has presents? Are they from you or santa?

DD will be 2 next month too and doesn't really understand. We talk to her about it and she has said 'Santa' a few times and asked where he was, but she really doesn't get the whole concept of it all.

LO is 20 months..he knows nothing. He does LOVE looking at his gammas Christmas decorations, the ones that sing and dance.

I wrapped up a hot wheels last night (SO made me, he was wayyy too excited) and gave it to LO.. he actually opened it. It made me happy, we are going to have a good Christmas

I just dont mention him. She screams and crys at the mention of his name we cant walked past the Santa area at the mall, when im watching abc family and the little cartoon santa pops up to tell you the movie is gonna be on or whatever she runs and hides behind me. I really dont know if we will ever have santa if she isn't better by next year because the baby will almost be 2.

How old is she?
I'm gonna be pretty honest here, DD is spastic as hell. If i gave her cookie dough and tried to direct her hand to place it on a cookie sheet, it would be in our hair. She doesnt like sticky hands. She doesnt eat a lot of junk food- her snacks are decently "healthy". But cookies? How could I explain to her that they arent for her, and that santa- (mommy and daddy) will enjoy them later without her?
