I'm ready to cancel Christmas.

My son's behavior in school is just awful. I had a conference with his teacher and the stuff she was telling me was so embarrassing. I just wanted to ball up and hide, I was so mortified.

I'm busting my ass picking up every extra shift I can at work to make money for Christmas and it pisses me off that he can't even act like a decent person at school. We've tried punishing, grounding, extra chores, incentives, positive reinforcement. I want to put away the tree and decorations and just hope January hurries up so I don't have to see any of this Christmas b.s. anymore.

I'm so over this.

Then do it. Parents never follow through. If your child doesn't deserve Christmas then go ahead and not celebrate.

Do you know why he's behaving like he is?
Have you tried play therapy?

I feel like an smurf for even entertaining the idea, but I'm just over it. I don't spend any of the money I earn on myself and just thinking about buying him transformers and all that smurf makes me want to cry from frustration.

Have you asked him why? What is he doing? Has he been evaluated for behavioral disorders?

I would do it!! It would be sucky but if taking christmas doesnt work, I don't know what will.

No clue. Last year, the teacher said it was hard getting him to settle down, but his teacher this year said it's just straight up defiance. He'll yell at the teacher from across the room and say "WHY DID YOU MAKE ME DO THAT?"

He's the kid that other kids look at and think "What the smurf is wrong with that kid?"

Then don't. He doesn't need more stuff when he can't be respectful.

Do you think he might have ADHD or ODD?

I've asked him why numerous times. He says he doesn't know. He refuses to listen to the teacher. When he has to change his color (behavior thing), the teacher says he acts like it doesn't even phase him anymore. She said she assumed he wasn't getting any discipline at home, but after I explained what we were doing, she was at a loss for what was wrong.

I would take a couple days off ((if you could)) and sit in class with him...right beside him.

That should straighten him up.

Why not have xmas. But nit have it till his attitude improves. Losing it 100% is harsh but a "on hold till you behave" might spark better behavior. May be feb before he gets it but its something to work towards.

I was thinking it was ADHD last year because his teacher said he wasn't malicious or anything. He was just really active and sometimes would just get lost in thought. Now, his teacher basically said he's a douche bag.

He sounds like he has ODD honestly. I work across from an EBD class and most of the kids have it. Very similar sounding.
