visitation

Well im not putting my BD on my daughters birth certificate i dont think i can without him being there, right? (Hes in jail and will be there until shes about 7 months old)
Anyway so if hes not on the birth certificate he has to take me to cort for visitation right? And if he does that he has to pay child support right?

Child support and visitation are two separate things. He could take you to court for visitation and not pay child support unless you file for it

If he's not on the birth certificate, he has to request a DNA test through the court to be put on the birth certificate. But I believe that child support and visitation aren't always done together. I think that you could file to get child support, and he would have to file separately to get visitation. If that makes sense.

Okay, and i cant put him on the birth certificate he has to sign right?

yea he has to sign. you dont always have to get a DNA test if when he files he doesnt contest paternity.

Okay, i was just wondering because he wants her to have his last name but i was pretty sure he had to sign.

you can give the baby his last name and he can sign an acknowledgement of pateernity when he gets out.

You can name the child whatever you want and him still not be on it. My son's father was not on the birth certificate and when we added him years later we didn't have to do a DNA test or child support, just signed some papers. That was in OH, not sure about other states.

Really?! Oh that would make him so happy. Me too my last name has a bad reputation in my town.
