Can anyone tell me?

posted 16th Dec
Okay so I'm 16 & I'm expecting a baby girl in January. I will be 36 weeks Monday. Me & my boyfriend(my daughters dad) have been together for over a year now & we have wanted to get married for a pretty long time now, since before we even thought about me being pregnant or before we had even done anything, but my mom hasn't agreed to it yet. She says I need to be at least 17(she doesnt want to look bad at her work...) so that's really the only thing stopping us. I'll be 17 in march & her dad is 18 now... & I was wondering if he signed the birth certificate & I gave her his last name would he have to pay child support? Cause he already helps buy stuff & support me & her & she's not even here yet... I really want her to have his last name but I don't want him to be forced to pay child support or anything...

The only way he will be forced to pay child support is if you file for child support. They don't make you pay just for putting his name on the birth certificate.

I think the only way he would have to pay is if you set up a court date and filed for it...

He won't have to pay unless you take him to court.

No u have to file for child support

Or if u get govt. Assistance, the county will open a case against him

He will not legally have to pay child support unless you take him to court for it, or if the baby will receive any state assistance like insurance, then the state will go after him for it.

I think, am not sure, if he signs the BC you'll either get less benefits because you include his income, or he'll have to pay CS.

If you include him on the case and include his income he will not have to pay child support. If you do not include him, he will.

I get cash assistance, and after she gets here, SO will be put on my case, and his income will affect how much we get. But i was told if he didn't live with me, they would have went after him for CS.

If u use his income in ur case for medical, I know over here they ask for his info for cs, because he supposed to be providing insurance for baby, but they won't hunt him down like if u were getting cashaid,
