2nd birth faster?
posted 15th Dec
Hey Ladies!
I hope you're all doing well during this festive holiday season!
I was wondering.... Did you find that the birth of your second babies was faster, easier or what was your experience with your second vs your first? This is my second baby so i'm hoping that the labor will be faster and less painful?? .... I was induced at 39 weeks with my daughter * due to high blood pressure * and the labor was absolutely terrible.

#1 I was in labor for a total of 28 hours and ended in an emergency csection.
#2 I was in labor for 33 hours and ended in a VBAC. This labor was longer, but much more enjoyable.

I just had my 2nd baby a month ago. Everything progressed a lot faster than with my first, but I was in back labor so it hurt a lot more and the epidural didn't work at all. Then I found out I had to have a c-section because he was breech and I had low fluid so the delivery I couldn't tell you about. Everything else was going so much faster than my first.

Well, my first pregnancy I was in labor for 19 and 1/2 hours.
My dickhead (now ex) husband requested the doc not give me any pain meds
It was a VERY dry labor, and I was lucky not to tear. So my first labor was very hard.
Number 2. I got pain meds.
Labor was induced.
I was in labor for 7 and 1/2
Doc had me doped up, so labor and pushing was easy (Though I did bust a vein in my eye).
I tore, but was too numb from the epi to feel the stitch work.
All in all .... Labor number 2 was SOOOOO much easier.

Seems like most of the time labor is faster with the second. In my case I hope that's not true. I

With #1 I was in labor about 24 hours or so.
With #2, I was in labor about 15 hours, and with #3 I was in labor about 6 hours. I would definitely say that labor gets faster.

I have only had one baby but from reading many womens' experiences yes it is very common. Of course every labor is different like pregnancy and certain things can effect your labor like baby's position, your own position...but anyway my mom told me her 1st = 11 hrs, 2= 8, 3rd = 5 hrs, 4Th = 3 and 5= 2 1/2. These were all home births without medication so things went smoothly and quickly.

With my 1st i was induced, that was 46 hours
2nd i was in active labor for 7 hours, 24 total from starting contractions, them stopping them and contractions starting again lol
My 3rd was 1 hour from water breaking and pushing him out

Thanks ladies for all the feedback!! Hopefully mine is a natural birth again but shorter labor with no induction! Wish me luck!

1st was a natural birth that lasted 1 hr 46 minutes.
2nd was a non medicated induction that lasted 36 minutes!!! My 2nd was planned natural and I was much better prepared. Both births were relatively easy and absolutely perfect.

since my 2nd was induced and my 1st wasn't, IDK if it would have been faster on it's own or not.
My first was 30+ hours (I lost track) My second was less than 8 from getting pitocin to baby.
