Gyno exam...weird question

When I was 17 at my first gyno exam the doctor had to put her finger in my rectum and push while she was in my vagina doing my exam. still to this day don't know why. Has anyone had this happen? I figured I could use this site to find out why. Just curious.  

I've had quite a few gyno exams in my day, and never have I had a finger in my rectum....swabs yes, no fingers  

Never had this happen  .....IDK.

Um, no Doctor has ever stuck their finger in my Butt. That's just not normal sounding to me.

The only time anyone has EVER done that to me was after birth when they were stitching me up.

In all the exams after with other doctors I haven't needed that done either. That's why I ask. She was just like, bear with me, I have to put my finger in your butt for a second while I do the exam, and she pushed and it was just like O.o

It is NOT all that uncommon. They do a rectal exam to check for abnormalities. I had it done once ever. Some do it, others don't.

I just had my first gyno exam and that definitely did not happen. It was over in like 2 minutes including the breast exam and swab of my cervix

My gyno did it to me. It's to check for abnormalities.

Yep, about 14 years ago I had an older male doctor do it during an exam. He said he was checking for polups. I don't know...I thought it was weird but afterward never really thought much about it And it was super quick...it's not liek he lingered there.

It just surprised me. My first exam, ya know...no idea what to expect...then finger up my bum. Threw me for a loop. Haha. I was so relieved a while later with my next gyno when they didn't do it. It wasn't even uncomfortable per se...but awkward. Lol
