I know a few people that have asked for c-sections for no reason and the docter always says no. There's normally got to be a reason. x

In the states you can ask, it is considered an opted c section. I techniqually had one. My hips werent going to spread but instead of inducing me at 42 weeks, we went ahead with a c section. Insurance does not have to cover it because it is an unnecessary surgery though.

Why would you want c section?

Major surgery, stitches, staples, recovery... It's hell

Your body is designed to give birth. It's natural. Nothing to fear

youd rather them cut you open? i had a csection and yea it wasnt the worst thing, but it did suck. would you want to be able to get out of bed after you have your baby, be able to walk around and just be sore? or stay in bed for 24 hours and then when you get up for the first time it feels like your insides are going to fall out? then youre going to have a week recovery time being cautious of what you do

I agree. I mean, i know that for others it can be horrible but mine went great. I was terrified of labor and vaginal delivery like OP but i was going to do it anyway of course. I ended up having a c-sec due to fetal distress so i never even went in to labor. I will definitely not be trying for a VBAC.

My OB gave me an elective c-section. Most won't but you need to check with your doctor. I had a wonderful experience and honestly, recovery is not that bad.

I was up after 6 hours and my belly felt... Heavy. and i was out the next day casue i had it late in the day. if you've got someone to help out the first weeks i'd say i had it easy, watching my sister recover after her vaginal birth was bad, lol. poor thing was in agony everything she did! . x

that is just plain selfish. You got pregnant... You have to give birth. That's how it works. Unfortunately some people need a c section but it's never something to ask for nor something a doctor wants to do for no good reason. Its a greater risk to mom and baby than a vaginal birth... Unless in an emergency situation or following another c section. Its a major abdominal surgery.

I'm not being a bitch, just devils advocate. But, i was glad to deal with the recovery rather than possibly being in horrible painful labor for 20 hours and then possibly ripping my vagina open and needing stitches. I only had one kid and DH and my mom were both with me the week after the c-sec though so i had help.

They do not just give them out to people who ask for them in the US

Best thing you can do is ask your own doctor what his/her policy is. But really, labor is nothing to fear and c sections carry so many more risks
