re: asking for c-section

posted 15th Dec
I thought that's what I wanted too. I ended up going completely naturally and LOVED it. Yeah there's pain, but it's nothing that you can't handle. Don't be afraid of labor and birth. You'll do great! Your body is built for this, and if you end up with a c-section at least you can say you tried. No point in having a major surgery that wasn't needed. I was able to get up immediately after I had my daughter. The pain I had after was minimal as well. I was back to doing everything myself immediately. You can do this!

I woule ask for a c-section, my recovery was hell. i couldnt hardly move unless i was drugged. i couldnt sneeze or cough or throw up without being in pain, and trust me if you do any of these things after a c-section you will think you were dieing.

I'm not sure what the rules are there, but my doc won't do them unless medically necessary. I definitely did NOT want one, it's a major surgery and recovery is so much harder on you then if you just had a vaginal birth. Just get an epidural.

I think, by reading all of this comments, we've established that everyones experiences are different with C-sections and Vaginal Births. Some hurt. Some dont. Some people take ages to recover. Some dont. Some people loose loads of blood, Some dont. Kayleigh, you're just gonna have to have a go at it!
I was in labour for 64 hours before having to have a c-section and the labour weren't all that bad really. Get on the Gas and Air and hold someones hand! You'll love it!

Edit, As much as i liked the recovery after my c-section.... I do feel like I missed out on my son being born because I didn't push him out myself, even though I was there and saw him get lifted out, I didn't feel it. which made it sort of not seem real? if that makes sence? That's the only down side I can think of about my c-section.

Oh and my skin is numb around the incision. lol. x

I wont be either. Mine was considered elective, because my doc didnt think my hips would spread. So I went ahead and just did a C section.

I can tell you now that living in the UK they will absolutely not give you a c section unless there is a medical reason. We're not like America in that each Doc may be different and you could ask and see what they say or simple reasons like the lady said not believing her hips would move or something, no unless there is an absolute medical necessity for you to have one here you will not get one. You MAY be able to get one if you have that actual phobia of labour (I can't remember what the name of it is) but yes if you genuinely have that phobia and a Doctor can vouch that you have it then that may be considered a medical reason but again they are more likely to send you for therapy for your phobia first before considering a a c section. Unless you have that phobia or they discover an actual medical reason they will not give you one and that will be that, you cannot have an "elective" section in the UK.
