Do I have to be checked

posted 15th Dec
Do I really need to go to an Ob and get checked out after a miscarriage? I lost it around 5.5wks and I still have some spotting (started Monday) but no more cramping. I really don't want to go have a pelvic and all the questioning right after all the hurt and such....

Thank you.

I wish they would just do a scan and let me go or an hCG test. I didn't even have an Ob set up yet.

Honestly, I would go to make sure everything passed. I recently had one, in November. I went to make sure my numbers had dropped completely. They didn't do a scan on me that time, but the week before to see how much was left. She offered my cytotec and I took it.

I am sorry for your loss...

Would it more just be an hCG check?

I'd go and get checked. My sister thought her's was all done but when she went to get check there was lots still in there   so had to have help with it.

Like a D&C? I haven't even considered that it may be needed

Sorry for your loss. I think it's best to get checked. After my MC I had to have a few ultrasounds which showed I still had retained tissue. I had to get another one when i finished my next period to make sure it was all gone too.

Not quite, she had some pills to help pass it. it took a long time for it to happen, nearly a month. I do think thought that it was partly the doctors fault for not helping her sooner cause they didn't take her seriously and kept fobbing her off saying "it'll pass it'll pass" My heart broke for her   She was 8 weeks pregnant.

I'm sorry for your loss. Hope you're ok. xx

My friend lost hers at 10 weeks and she had to go back just to make sure everything went well and there was no chance on infection. Maybe you could ask them not to go into much detail about it only what they need to tell you about I'm sure they will understand. I'm so sorry

I never got checked out after any of my miscarriages. I probably should've, but I didn't. I never needed a D&C or any intervention. I always passed everything naturally.

Pretty much. To make sure my numbers went down, and an ultrasound to make sure I passed everything.
