Since I started breastfeeding my hair has been falling out at an alarming rate. I still take prenatals.

So do you think it was due to bf? My hair has always been thick and full.

Completely normal. For a month after I stopped breastfeeding it looked like a hair salon on my floor. I was clogging up the bathtub drain weekly. It's not vitamins that made your hair thick and healthy, it's the hormones. The hormones subside to normal levels after weaning so your hair returns to it's pre-pregnancy state. I lost even more than I originally had because after the mass exodus of hair it started filling back in again. It's normal, don't worry about it.

What can I do? Should I try a different shampoo? How long will this last is scary.

There's absolutely nothing you can do about it. Shampoos and conditioners don't help keep the roots attached to your head. My FIL is an OB and he says it'll stop on its own. You will probably continue to lose hair for a month or more and then some of the hair you lost may come back in. It seems like a lot, but our hair can gain almost 50% more hair/thickness while pregnant and lactating (I was horrified by the amount of hair I lost-I thought I was going to need a wig!). It will normalize, I assure you.

Yeah that is what I worry that I am going to go bald. Will it ever be thick again how it was?

Everybody is different. My hair returned to normal. I think most peoples do too. I think the people who say their hair never returned to normal may be comparing it to pregnancy hair and not the hair they had >1 year prior.

Gotcha. I took my hair about 6 months to return to its pre-pregnancy state. This pregnancy it doesn't seem as thick so I hope that means not as much will fall out.
