that's why my grandma does with left overs. Or she puts icing between 2 graham crackers and stores those in the fridge as a quick "cookie"

Can't it just stay out in a sealed container? I leave butter unrefrigerated.

ETA unless you house is too hot lol

yep! I refrigerate icing pretty often. I just let it sit out until it's soft and throw it in my mixer for a couple mins before using it.

Unless it's so hot it's melting, I leave it out until it's gone. I usually cut up squares and leave it out to butter toast and make eggs/etc. When I made buttercream icing I left it on the counter for a while too (airtight container)... I don't have a specific time frame, but I don't think butter goes bad. I'd just taste it before using it, lol
