Yeah ive done it before. Its ok to use but it's still never as nice as freshly made.

that's why my grandma does with left overs. Or she puts icing between 2 graham crackers and stores those in the fridge as a quick "cookie"

yep! I refrigerate icing pretty often. I just let it sit out until it's soft and throw it in my mixer for a couple mins before using it.

Unless it's so hot it's melting, I leave it out until it's gone. I usually cut up squares and leave it out to butter toast and make eggs/etc. When I made buttercream icing I left it on the counter for a while too (airtight container)... I don't have a specific time frame, but I don't think butter goes bad. I'd just taste it before using it, lol

This is what my grandmother does too, she has never had a problem with it
