re: Craziness in schools

My first impulse is hell yeah, homeschool her so she is with me all the time and not even at risk of the very unlikely school shooting. But when I think about it, no I wouldn't. I want her to have an education from a teacher who has spent the time to get the degree and education. I think, no wait I know, I would be lacking in some areas.

That's the stereotype for overly sheltered kids, not homeschooled kids.

So you think it's best for her to get her education from someone who can't grasp the basics of the written language? Lovely.

We have considered homeschooling on and off - but not due to issues like this, but because of how much we hate the public school system and it doesn't seem to be getting a ton better.

School shootings are not a factor in our decision.

Homeschooling does not equal sheltering unless that's the way you go about it. Homeschooling has the potential to be just as enriching and social as regular school - if you do it correctly.

Lmao. You dont know what i can grasp and what i cant. And two shea my daughter i will decide whats best for her! When i ask for your opinion thats when i will give a smurf about it. Honestly i doubt that will ever happen. Stick to making decisions about your children, not mine. I was asked my opinion and i gave it.

School shootings have been happening for a long time. First recorded was in the 1700's (US history). Plus I don't have the resources that schools do to educate them as well as I would like them to be. Many other crimes are more likely to happen to you than school shootings but I don't keep myself and my children in little bubbles. I refuse to live in fear.
