I myself don't own a gun, but I don't care if you do! I do want one though, and have wanted one since I was little.

DH and I are saving up for a small handgun and he's going to teach me how to use it.

My dad use to let me shoot one of his handguns when I was little. Since then I have always wanted one. He always told me he would get me one, but not until I learned how to take care of a gun. (Cleaning and what not).

Those words have always stuck with me, and because I never did learn, even though I am able to get one, I still won't until I know how to do what he requested.

Yeah DH was raised around guns since they all hunt but my family had more of the mindset that since I was a girl it was appropriate. When we were living with my inlaws DH was going to teach me how to shoot a gun then while MIL was watching DD(playing with her and keeping an eye on her) but she's very against guns so as soon as she realized that's what DH wanted to do she passed DD over to me and refused to watch her.

It's a way of protection.

I mean what would have happened to that girl and her infant daughter had she NOT had a gun when those people broke into her home? She probably wouldn't be alive today to share her story with the world, and her daughter (Assuming she would have survived) would be an orphan.

I'm not sure if they covered it where you live but a few months ago some inmates escaped, took their gf's (went by choice but one was underage and said they threatened her) and went to a couple different states stealing cars and breaking into houses, and ended up in Colorado. They were major meth heads and before the left the state they stole some guns and were in the woods by our house. Helicopters, tons of cops, the whole nine yards. DH and my FIL grabbed their hunting rifles and one took the front of the house, the other took the back and DH gave me a quick run down (safety, point, shoot, and how to reload) just in case. MIL was FREAKING out that not only was DH making me a bigger target if I had a gun but if they came to our house we were practically giving them 2 more guns   I just said I'll make sure to shoot first ask later   (I do know not to shoot to kill..aim for an arm or leg or something lol)

Yeah they caught them in Colorado..they had a meth lab going on in their hotel room.
I was so freaking scared!! I was almost in tears holding DD.

I think the scariest that ever happened to us. (I wasn't there, but trust me I heard about it).

My mom was laying out on top of the tool shed naked. (We didn't have any close neighbors, so no one would have seen her).

Suddenly a chopper goes flying over our house, but really low to the ground. Next thing you know, my mom's boyfriend comes out and tells my mom to get inside and get dressed quickly.

Apparently, a diesel truck was caught transporting illegals. Well they had gotten out of the diesel and scattered all over the desert surrounding our house.
