Almost ever parent I see is saying they will home school now. What are your thoughts??

I wanted to home school before this tragedy, it only makes my decision more definite.

DH and I were both home schooled, and have been going back and forth about if we will home school our children.. Today makes me want to even more.

I'm sure everyone is saying that now but realistically I don't think that many more will.

I was already thinking of homeschooling but today scared the smurf out of me. I'm going for it. I mean, I wanted to do it anyway but yeah I'd rather have my kids with me and spend as much time with me as possible. What happened today is one of many many reasons why I want to homeschool.

No way. My kids are happy, well rounded, and somewhat worldly from daycare.

I wouldn't deny them of that by continuing to let them to flourish from under neath my wing.

My cousins were homeschooled till half way through highschool, and they were so happy to eventually go to regular school (first catholic, then public).

My child will go to school. You cannot run from crazy people such as this man. Sheltering your children from public school soley because of these incidents isn't going to benefit them.

This does inspire me to to teach my son what to do in situations such as these, though.

I will not. My neighbors house got shot up with AK-47's...in a gated neighbor. Tragedy is everywhere. More children are killed at home or out and about when they think they are safe then at school.

I agree. And OP, I'll be sending DD to a school, granted we've discussed prior to the tragedy to sending her to a private school. Possibly even a religious school if we can get scholarships/afford it. Most of my family home schools/are home schooled, and it is just not for me.

I am not letting one POS ruin me or my LOs life. So no, I will still be sending my LO to public school. Tragedies can happen anywhere at anytime. Sheltering a child may sound ideal, but it isnt realistic.

The thought has always been in the back of my mind, and while I will think about it long and hard, realistically, I don't think it's something I could do. I think it takes a strong person to home school and I don't think I'm cut out for it.
