My kids will go to public school. There was a shooting at a mall not too long ago but you don't see people not going to malls do you? No. I understand this is a major tragedy but like I saw on another thread, if this is bothering you that much to take your kids out of school, then you might as well become a hermit. Shootings happen everywhere..

my daughter will start Christian Private school soon and we will see how that goes.. and if it goes ok i will continue to pay and keep her in a public school.

DH is against home schooling :/ otherwise im pretty sure i would with a group of kids... im working on my teaching degree right now, so maybe ill do that /

I devote a great deal of my time on my daughters' education. My girls (ages three and five) are exclusively home-schooled. My five-year-old is in second grade, and my three-year-old is in kindergarten.

Shooting can happen outside your house for all you know. Its not just in schools or malls or movie theaters,..

When I was pregnant I knew I wanted to home school. But now that I'm going to be working I don't see that as a option.

I want to send LO to a private school that has a great art and language program.

Exactly. So there is no point in disrupting your daily life and being afraid of everything.

I agree. You cannot let these people hinder your life.

Also, home schooling your child is great if that is what's best for your family. No one is putting home schooling down. the question was will you home school BECAUSE of this incident and other school shootings.
I think it would be foolish to home school SOLELY because of random shootings.

I never thought about it, but that's a horrifying possibility. Some people are so crazy, it's scary.

The last "predicted" world end date there was a lot of suicides and people taken advantage of. Some manipulators made money by offering false services. A few parents killed their kids and themselves. I suspect that will happen again.

I home-school not because I want to "shelter" my daughters... I home-school because I feel that a public education would not be most beneficial for my girls. My girls are well socialized via dance classes, swim lessons and play dates at the local "Y".

I made the decision to home-school before I ever had children. Recent events do not strengthen or otherwise affect my resolve to home-school. Every parent is entitled to choose the best as they see fit for their children.

in my hometown there has been 9 bomb threats this week and they cancelled school because kids were saying there was a game being played...

something about the kids kept calling bomb threats and who didnt get caught would bring guns to school 12-12-12 and then who didnt caught then would shoot up the school on 12-21-12. no one knows how many kids are playing this game but they have arrested i think 10 kids so far and no one is speaking, except what they already found out. its horrible to think i just graduated there a few years back and a school i have been recommending to moms here in my area whos husbands are getting stationed there. this world is getting worse everyday. im scared to think what will happen 12-21-12 in general, as far as people going crazy.
