A lot of people will also ignore the signs and not try to help someone who needs it. There are many who slip through the cracks. Also there is a stigma that makes people who need help afraid to ask. For example, I never told people directly in high school I wanted to kill myself, but I did invite my parents and best friend to read my journal that did say that. They all said no, I'm sure there were other signs too.

It is a totally different scenario, and locally there has been a lot of support for the family that lost that sweet baby, but my general point is that tragedy comes in every form.... usually when you don't expect it. It cannot be completely willfully avoided.

I could be wrong, but didn't he kill his mom (who was supposedly a teacher there) and someone else?

He killed his mom and her class of kindergarteners, they say one of the other people may be his brother.

Your kid is more likely to die in a car accident than a school shooting. Guess we should all get rid of our pieces of metal and start walking, eh?

Same. It is sad that it happens, but people take a few horrible tragedies and try to amplify it as a big national problem when school shootings are statistically rare.

It crossed my mind first when an elementary student shot a classmate at the school in our district my son will be transferring to eventually, earlier this year.

Not really since we have strict gun control in Australia and last year only had 19 deaths (including suicides and accidents) due to guns.

People say put metal dectector but We shouldnt have to go as far as putting metal dectctors in schools! This shouldn't be happening. We shouldn't have to be worrying about wether our children are going to get hurt at school. These massacres can happen anywhere.

What pisses me off is that this guy thought he had the right to kill all these innocent people. For what?! What did these adults and children do to you. Those children are never going to know life because some sm*rfer decided to end their life. I don't know about you but anywho who can kill a child is sm*rfed up in the head.

I would still leave My children would at a public school. Like I said this can Unfortunately happen anywhere. I can't imagine the terror those kids must have felt. The screams they heard the gunshots. It's truly heartbreaking. </3

Parents should never have to bury their child. Now instead of planning Christmas and New Years they'll be planning funerals. May they rest in peace.
